Just saw that the ELR is on it's way to dealers. Probably could have left the chrome rocker trim and window trim at Hamtramck.

Dat chrome...blech

I hope no one buys this stupid thing. FWD hybrid in a coupe... for $75k?!

I actually like the look of it....is there something wrong with me?

I wouldn't ever buy one... But I would enjoy the shit out of owning one. Even with the excessive chrome.

Come on Caddy, put some VSport in it and now we're talking!

Well, I wouldn't mind if there was a lot less chrome, but otherwise, I think it looks sharp. Worth $75k though? Not at this state. I was hoping with the ELR that they would evolve the Volt powertrain.

The CTS-V then Sportwagon made me go like, "Yeah GM. Way Cadillac."
And then this.
Other shit also.
And then the ATS and I was like, "Okay, so you fell off the wagon but you're getting back on."
No wagon.
Soooo close and wiff.

I hope a bunch of rich people buy them. Research money.

It's a great looking car, just too much chrome for me. Chrome is the old American way of saying something is luxury.

You know this thing is going to sell like hotcakes, right? I mean, come on Nibby. You're not under the misguided impression that rich fuckwits aren't going to snap these up in their numbers?
Enough embellishment. I agree with you 100%. If I were Lou Ferrigno I'd add another 10%. (I think I just spelled his last name wrong, but I care so little I'm not going to do anything about it like press backspace)
But fuckwits like Lou Ferigino (see?) are going to eat these pieces of over dressed shit up like cheeseburgers. Or cookies for Cookie Monster.
And that makes me sadngry.

No.
It looks great. But what it is, is pure evil.
Fucking Succubus.

I'd enjoy the shit out of looking at one.

I guess I'm too young, I dig the chrome.

It's business as usual for GM. Make the MSRP something ridiculous for bookkeeping purposes, sell it for under invoice.

I could get a Prius plugin, Fusion plugin, Accord plugin and have similar performance (okay Prius is slower but more practical) for half the price.

Huh?
A lot of the German car makers have chrome bright work too, eh.

I'm a huge fan of Cadillac, my first car was a 2006 CTS, I had a '05 CTS-V for a summer, and I'll likely own an ATS or some other Cadillac again in the next 5 years, buuuut:

See the chrome on the E350's grille and window surrounds?
Yeah, the new German trend is exposed aluminum rather than chrome per se, but it's to a similar effect/level of ostentation. See it on the S5's mirrors and all over the bottom of the X1.

Compare square feet of chrome between the ELR and any of the German cars.

That's not what this car is about though. Its about making and environmental statement while also having tons of style and a great interior. Ed Welburn has said on multiple occasions that this car has the best interrior of any cadillac ever better than the new CTS XTS Escalade. You are not paying for performance, you are paying to be in a luxury vehicle that is extremely green. Its like saying I can get a Corvette and supercharge the shit out of it and get most of the performance of a Veyron. While it may be true, thats not the point of owning a veyron.
